Barcelona could register contract renewals of two key stars with La Liga if Pjanic leaves

While the transfer window in Spain might have closed last week, in some countries the player trading period is still open. And it could pave the way for one or two exits from Barcelona in the coming days.
Earlier today, Fabrizio Romano reported that Barcelona midfielder Miralem Pjanic had received a three-year contract offer from UAE-based club Sharjah FC.
The 32-year-old is one among three players to have not played a single minute of football for Barça this season. And even though manager Xavi Hernandez said that the midfielder will stay at the club, the Catalans are reportedly open to sanctioning his exit.
And, Mundo Deportivo is now reporting that should Pjanic leave, Barcelona could register the contract extensions of Ronald Araujo and Gavi with La Liga successfully.
Araujo signed a new contract with Barcelona in April earlier this year, prolonging his stay at Spotify Camp Nou until the summer of 2026. However, as per the report, it seems like the 23-year-old’s new contract has not been incorporated and registered with La Liga.
Meanwhile, Gavi is in the final year of his contract with the Catalan giants and has been attracting widespread interest from clubs across Europe.
However, he has already reached an agreement over a contract extension with Barça and an official confirmation of the same is awaited. In the meantime, he remains registered as a subsidiary player and not a first-team member.
But should Pjanic depart, it will free up enough salary mass for Barcelona to register Araujo and Gavi’s new contracts with La Liga. Whether Pjanic is willing to consider the offer from Sharjah FC remains to be seen.
