Barcelona close a lucrative sleeve sponsorship deal with Philips for 3 + 2 years

As Barcelona continue to find ways to generate new revenue to help deal with the Financial Fair Play issues, they have managed to reach an agreement with Dutch multinational conglomerate Philips to become the club’s new sleeve sponsor.

This report comes from Mundo Deportivo’s Fernando Polo, who claims that Barcelona and Philips have reached an agreement for three years with an option for an additional two years.

Barça have been on the lookout for a new sponsor ever since their agreement with Beko expired in 2021. Several potential sponsors had been considered and talks held, but the option of Philips emerged earlier this year.

And it seems like after months of negotiations the two parties have finally closed an agreement which will see Philips become the sleeve sponsors of Barcelona from next season onwards.

The agreement is said to be for three years with an option for an additional two seasons which will be triggered if both parties give their consent.

The nature of the 3 + 2 agreement is said to be because of the potential regime change in 2026 when president Joan Laporta’s term comes to an end.

As per the details of the agreement, Barça stand to earn €8 million from their partnership with Philips for the first year of the contract, while the revenue will increase to €10 million for the second year and €12 million for the third.

If the option of the additional two years is taken up, the Blaugrana will earn €12 million in the fourth year and €14 million in the fifth year of the agreement.

Barcelona’s marketing vice-president Juli Guiu and brand director Sergi Ricart are understood to have played a key part in the negotiations to finalise the agreement with the Dutch conglomerate.

The report states that Philips were eager to collaborate with Barcelona and apart from becoming the next sleeve sponsor, they will also provide all the television sets for the new Spotify Camp Nou once the renovations are complete, which is internally valued at around €4 million.
