FC Barcelona is persistently pursuing the transfer market in its search for new additions this summer.

Even though finances have proven to be Barcelona’s Achilles’ heel, the club is still looking at potential solutions in an effort to strengthen the team.

Amid rumors of Neymar potentially returning to reclaim his throne in Catalonia, Barcelona’s captain has dropped a bombshell that is sure to ignite further speculation and fervent debates among football enthusiasts worldwide.

A whisper of insight

The possibilities of Neymar’s reunion have heightened, following the player’s desire to mutually end his contract with PSG.

And Sergi Roberto has come out to publicly add fuel to the fire.

The player expressed Neymar’s wish to don the Blaugrana colors once more. With Roberto officially now Barcelona’s first captain, his words hold innate weight.

“I spoke with Neymar, he seems very excited to return to Barcelona,” Roberto shared via Sport.

Neymar spent four seasons at Barcelona before relocating to Paris. In 186 games, he scored a whopping 105 goals and provided 76 assists.

Despite being marred with injuries time and time again, the South American is one of football’s most revered talents and would help Barcelona compete for trophies on all fronts.

Roberto went onto further showcase his own craving to share the same pitch with Neymar again.

“I want Neymar to come back to Barça,” Roberto said.

“I love Neymar very much, for everything we experience at the club. He is a differential player, an important talent… His signing? It is an issue that the board and the coach have to deal with.”

It is no surprise that Roberto wishes to see his compatriot return, with the pair responsible for Barcelona’s biggest Champions League comeback against PSG, which saw the side complete a 6-1 victory on aggregate.

Barcelona currently are best placed to land Neymar, if the player is able to arrive on a free transfer.

But if the move fails to come to fruition, the Brazilian winger has other options on the table, with Al Hilal and MLS sides showing great interest in him.
