Ever since Pablo Torre joined Barcelona from Racing Santander, many have tipped the younger to take a major leap into the first-team and instantly prove his worth, much in the same vein as Pedri.

However, as the question marks still linger over when the wonderkid will be granted a significant involvement in the senior setup, Barça Atlètic boss Rafa Marquez confirmed that for the time being, he will remain in the B team.

“With Pablo Torre, we continue in the same situation. He keeps the doors open for when he and the people above consider it”, he said, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

Ultimately, this remains an encouraging sign for Torre, as the Mexican coach’s revelation hints towards the 19-year-old being considered for a role in Xavi’s side. He has, after all, been handed a definitive senior number for when he gets called up.

In pre-season, the Spaniard showcased his incredible potential by standing out in Barcelona’s friendly against Olot in a 1-1 draw.

Operating as an attacking midfielder, the teenage sensation shone, with several observers clamouring for him to be given a shot in the senior side.

However, Rafa Marquez’s comments imply that as things stand, the club wish for Torre to continue to develop within the Barça Atlètic setup.

At present, the Catalan giants have a plethora of established options in the young buck’s position, with names such as Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, Gavi instantly rolling off the tongue.

While it is extremely encouraging that the doors remain open for Pablo Torre to get a taste of first-team football, there is a sense that the unearthed gem must continue to hone his craft for the time being.
