Barcelona’s hot chase for Bosman transfers continues into 2022 as the club seems well-positioned to sign a bunch of free-agents in the summer; players who will cost the club zilch in transfer fee while adding depth to their rebuild.
Chelsea duo Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta are probably leading this race, with the latter having reportedly completed his move to Barça, according to Cat Radio.
They also provide an essential update on another player – Franck Kessie – who has been linked with a switch to Camp Nou for a while. The report says that Barcelona are in advanced talks with him over a summer transfer.
Kessie was among the best midfielders in Serie A last season as AC Milan finished second only to derby rivals Inter Milan. The Ivorian led the resurgence from midfield, scoring 13 goals and assisting four.
Despite Milan’s best efforts to keep him, there have not been many updates on his contract. At this point, it seems inevitable that Kessie will empty his locker at San Siro on 30th June.
While primarily a box-to-box midfielder, the 25-year-old can also play as a defensive midfielder, serving as a solution to the Sergio Busquets replacement problems.
It will not be surprising at this point if Barcelona are able to sign Kessie before the transfer market swings open. While the midfielder has suitors from across the continent, few can guarantee him the perfect mix of playing time and a sporting project like those in Catalonia.
