The arrival of Erling Haaland at Manchester City could lead to some of the current crop of forwards at the Etihad Stadium leaving the club in the summer.

There have already been speculations about Raheem Sterling’s future, while another attacker who looks certain to move on in the summer is Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus.

The 25-year-old has been at the Etihad since January 2017 but has failed to nail down a starting berth. And with the arrival of Haaland, his game-time will take a further hit, leading to a potential summer exit.

Premier League side Arsenal have been in talks to sign Jesus from Manchester City for a while now. But Fichajes is now reporting that the Gunners might face some fierce competition in their pursuit of the former Palmeiras prodigy.

Indeed, as per the report, Barcelona are among the interested parties in securing the services of Gabriel Jesus, along with La Liga rivals Atletico Madrid.

Barça’s search for a new centre-forward is no hidden secret. The Catalans had their hearts set on a move for Haaland for the longest time but missed out on his signing. They have since shifted their attention to Bayern Munich superstar Robert Lewandowski.

While things are looking up for the Catalans in their pursuit of the 33-year-old, there are no guarantees that he will arrive at Camp Nou. So, keeping their options open is a necessity and Jesus is one such player who is being looked at by the club.

However, they will likely face competition from arch-rivals Atletico Madrid, who are also in the market for a new forward as they look to replace Luis Suarez, whose contract expires at the end of the season.

Jesus has just one year left on his contract with the Citizens but is still expected to cost around €50 million. Barcelona are planning player sales to raise funds for new signings.

But with Inter Milan, Juventus and Arsenal also in the frame, apart from Atletico, signing the 25-year-old could prove tricky.
