David Alaba’s agent, Pini Zahavi has denied any verbal agreement with Barcelona, two days after the media reported that there had been a meeting between the agent and Laporta’s candidacy to arrange a verbal agreement for the Austrian defender.

In a statement for Goal, Zahavi denied any agreement with the Catalan club and added that the only club that reached a verbal agreement with his player is Real Madrid, as reported weeks ago by some Spanish media. However, he stated that there is nothing signed yet.

These words from Alaba’s agent come days after it was reported that he and Fali Ramadi, Pjanic’s agent, spent the last few days touring in Spain, as they had meetings with Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Bearing in mind that there is no done deal for the current Bayern player, Laporta and his board will surely aim for his signing as his arrival would be pivotal for next season’s squad. Not only would it be a free transfer, but also Koeman would get a versatile player that can play in the center-back, left-back, and even defensive midfielder.

It is interesting to add that the new Barcelona’s President, has a good relationship with Alaba’s agent. It is yet to be seen if Laporta might use his famous skills regarding negotiating with players and agents from the football world.

We will have to be aware of who wins this executive battle between the longtime rivals. The Austrian play might just want to choose the club that gives him the highest salary, as he knows that at his age (28) this might be one of the last chances to get a big deal in his career.

David Alaba would be a key piece for Barcelona’s defensive line. Having in mind that the club will try to transfer Samuel Umtiti, the Austrian arrival would be essential. Moreover, the Catalan club will sign the current center-back from Manchester City, Eric García, who has a big desire to return to his beloved club and would arrive for a free transfer.
