Xavi considers 26-year-old Barcelona star ‘untouchable’ amidst offer from Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia have been making all sort of waves in the summer transfer window, having picked up several top players from Europe over the past month or so.

Barcelona have seen two of their targets, Ruben Neves and Marcelo Brozovic, move to the Middle East and are now bracing for approaches from the Saudi clubs for their own players.

Indeed, Franck Kessie is attracting some serious interest from the oil-rich nation and earlier today, we reported that Raphinha, too, is a man in demand in Saudi Arabia, with Barcelona already receiving an offer for the Brazilian.

But, according to a report from AS, Xavi sees the 26-year-old winger as ‘untouchable’ and ‘non-transferable’, meaning that Barça will not listen to any offers for him unless they are outrageously huge.

The player, for his part, is also uninterested in leaving Barcelona, having shown his commitment and desire to continue at the club despite rumours about his future doing the rounds for months now.

Raphinha joined Barcelona last summer in a deal worth €65 million (including variables) from Leeds United. The 26-year-old enjoyed a solid debut season with the Blaugrana playing an important role in their La Liga title triumph.

With Barça looking to offload Ferran Torres this summer and Ez Abde also likely to depart, they cannot weaken the attacking department any further, especially considering Ousmane Dembele’s injury history.

And Raphinha is considered a key part of Xavi’s plans and the Brazilian is seen as an ‘untouchable’ by the manager.

As such, the offer from Saudi Arabia is likely to fall on deaf ears at Can Barça, with Raphinha expected to remain a Blaugrana beyond this summer.
