Barcelona starlet Ez Abde is staring at an uncertain future at the club this summer.
The 20-year-old signed for the Blaugrana only last summer from Hercules CF in a deal worth €2 million. Brought in as part of the B team, he impressed heavily, finishing with ten goal involvements in 21 RFEF First Division matches.
At the same time, Abde got some exposure with the first-team setup towards the end of 2021, due to a number of injuries to senior forwards. The Moroccan ace made ten appearances for Xavi’s team and even scored a goal.
But with Ousmane Dembele’s future still not sorted and Barça chasing Angel Di Maria and Raphinha, the 20-year-old Abde’s path to the first team is not clear, casting doubts over his future at Camp Nou.
And, Moroccan publication Lions de l’Atlas (h/t Mundo Deportivo) is claiming that Barcelona’s La Liga rivals Villarreal are ready to sign Abde this summer and are willing to offer €8 million for his services.
The report states that Villarreal manager Unai Emery has been left heavily impressed by Abde’s pace and dribbling abilities and has personally requested the Yellow Submarines to sign him on a permanent transfer, with an €8 million offer in the works.
However, Villarreal are not the only club interested in Abde, as the likes of CA Osasuna and Real Betis are also looking at the 20-year-old, although they are eyeing a loan move for the youngster and not a permanent transfer.
Xavi likes Abde and is set to involve the winger in the pre-season with the first team. But what happens after that is far from clear at this point.
On one hand, Barcelona could consider loaning out the young attacker, who has a high ceiling, to continue his development elsewhere before integrating him into the side next summer.
Or, with Villarreal ready to pay €8 million, the Blaugrana could decide to rake in the profit by permanently selling him, especially considering the financial situation at the club.
