Speaking to the media (h/t SPORT), Raphael Belloli, the father of Leeds United winger Raphinha, has addressed the speculations linking the Brazilian with a summer move to Barcelona.

The 25-year-old was one of Leeds United’s top players as they pulled off a miraculous escape to avoid relegation from the Premier League on the final day of the 2021/22 season.

Raphinha ended the campaign with a return of 11 goals and three assists from 35 league outings, and his performances at Elland Road have led to serious interest from Barcelona.

The Catalans are in need of reinforcements on the right flank as Ousmane Dembele’s contract expires next month while Adama Traore will not be signed permanently.

Raphinha has been earmarked as one of the top targets for the summer by Barcelona. Reports have even claimed that Leeds United have already turned down an offer from the Catalan giants for their star winger, demanding €55 million for his services.

Now, his father, Raphael Belloli has commented on the speculations, stating that the 25-year-old joining Barcelona in the summer is a possibility.

“There are possibilities, but these possibilities involve three parties: the interested club, the current one and the player,” he said, when quizzed about a possible move to Barcelona.

Further adding, Raphinha’s father added that the Brazilian international was keeping calm in the situation as things continue to develop behind the scenes.

“Raphinha is calm because he has a contract and all the options depend on him. What he knows is what has come out in the press, nothing more,” he added.

Raphinha has enjoyed a stellar rise to fame since his arrival at Leeds United from Rennes in the summer of 2020. One of the most exciting wingers in the Premier League, the 25-year-old has also become a mainstay in the Brazil national team ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

But, given Barcelona’s current financial situation, it remains to be seen if they can pull off a move for the Brazilian.
