The entire footballing fraternity is aware of the special bond that Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez used to share. In an interview with Gerard Romero on Twitch, the Uruguayan shared that he still maintains a very good relationship with Leo and they talk almost every day.

“I contact Leo almost daily. We talk about everything, sometimes we talk about some matches.”

Suarez has always maintained that Barcelona was always his dream club and will forever remain grateful to the club for what it has given to him. He shared with Romero that he still loves the club and the city and does not miss an opportunity to watch the games of the Catalan club.

“Nowadays I watch Barca games because I like to watch football and I have friends there. I have great admiration for the club I have defended and will always be grateful,” said the Uruguayan.

Suarez is currently in a tight race alongside Leo for the Pichichi trophy, when asked if they have a bet that who will eventually win it, he replied “Not yet. With the arrival of the last games, we can talk (laughs).” Currently, the Argentine is leading his former teammate by four goals after a spectacular run of form since the turn of the year.

The Catalans and Atletico Madrid find themselves in a competitive race for the league title, with only four points separating them. It seems like Barca are peaking at the right time, and look set to dominate the league after an emphatic 6-1 win over Real Sociedad.

The former Barca No 9 also had words of appreciation for the spectacular performance: “It was a great game, spectacular. When a team is in a positive dynamic and has the best in the world, it’s very evident. Games like this are what amuse those who admire football.”

The 34-year-old scored his 500th competitive goal in a 1-0 victory against Deportivo Alaves. The striker has redeemed himself after an average 2019-20 season, amassing 19 goals and 2 assists in just 25 appearances.
