FC Barcelona have a long-standing tradition of providing the perfect platform for their homegrown talents.

The rise of Lamine Yamal encapsulates Barça’s faith in the youth, as the youngster made history by being called up to the Spanish senior team after deciding to represent La Roja over Morocco.

Spain head coach gushes over Yamal

Spain manager Luis de la Fuente handed the young prodigy his first-ever call-up to the national team.

Now, speaking to the media ahead of Spain’s international friendlies, Luis de la Fuente waxed lyrical about the 16-year-old sensation, claiming:

“Lamine Yamal is a very important footballer for us right now. He’s here on his own merits.”

Yamal has indeed enjoyed a mesmerizing start to the league season, having played a pivotal role in all of the games he has started for the Catalan giants thus far.

His performance against Villarreal particularly sent ripples across Europe.

Adding to his praise, Luis de la Fente remarked: “I think he’s a great player. He’s very young and has to cover stages, but we’re very happy with him.”

Rodri chimes in with approval

Praise for Yamal did not just stop with the Spanish head coach, however, as Rodri also recognized the La Masia talent’s immense potential.

“Lamine is a boy with impressive development. You have to realize that he is only 16 years old. What I saw of him does not indicate that he is of this age,” Rodri expressed.

Having won a historic treble with Manchester City last season and triumphing in the Nations League with Spain, approval from one of football’s biggest stars undeniably bodes well for Yamal.
