Serie A club working to renew Barcelona target, player dreams of Camp Nou switch

Barcelona tried hard to sign Sofyan Amrabat from Fiorentina in the January transfer window, but were ultimately unsuccessful in their endeavours.
The Moroccan international rose in demand after a stellar run in the FIFA World Cup 2022 and was being pursued by several clubs, including Barcelona.
But Fiorentina refused to sanction a loan exit despite the player pushing for a move to Camp Nou by missing training as he was seen as a key cog in the side.
Now, Amrabat is set to enter the final year of his contract with Fiorentina in the summer and according to reports as relayed by SPORT, the Serie A outfit are trying to renew his contract so as to stave off interest from suitors like Barcelona.
Fiorentina, as per the report, still consider the Moroccan a vital part of the plans for the team. They are hoping to hold a meeting with Amrabat’s entourage shortly in order to offer him a new and improved contract that would keep him in Florence until the summer of 2027.
But, as per the report, Amrabat continues to dream about a move to Barcelona. And while the Catalans have not forgotten about the midfielder, at this point they have other positions as priorities at the moment.
Indeed, the La Liga leaders are focusing their efforts on signing a new right-back and a striker. If they do decide to sign a midfielder, the club will look for someone from the free-agent pool such as Ilkay Gundogan, whose chances of moving to Barça are growing.
