Robert Lewandowski going through worst scoring form in four years

Robert Lewandowski has been one of Barcelona’s most important players this season, with the forward racking up 22 goals since joining the club from Bayern Munich during the summer transfer window.

His tally of 13 goals in La Liga makes him the league’s highest goal-getter so far, two goals ahead of Espanyol’s Joselu.

However, Lewandowski is currently experiencing a little slump in his form. Over the last four league matches, the forward has netted only one goal. This is his worst scoring run in a league since the 2018/19 campaign when the forward had scored one goal in six Bundesliga matches with Bayern.

Lewandowski’s last league goal came way back in October when he scored the winner in a 1-0 win over Valencia. Since then, he has been without a goal in three matches.

However, it must be noted that Lewandowski did not feature in Barcelona’s last three league matches due to suspension. He was barred from featuring against Atletico Madrid earlier in the year. He subsequently missed games against Getafe and Girona respectively.

But the Polish international will be available for Barcelona’s upcoming game against Real Betis later this evening. He is expected to spearhead the Barça attack alongside the likes of Ferran Torres and Ansu Fati.

It will be an excellent opportunity for Lewandowski to reclaim his scoring form and further consolidate his position as the highest goalscorer in La Liga.

Real Betis, though, do boast an excellent defensive line, having conceded just 14 goals in 19 league matches this season. So it will be interesting to see who comes out on top when these two sides collide at Benito Villamarin later this evening.
