After faltering against Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League this past Tuesday, Barcelona will hope to turn things around and pick up a win when the two teams meet again next week.

Having lost two of their first three UCL encounters, Xavi Hernandez’s side are currently third in Group C and another misstep could see them crash out from the competition at the group stage itself.

In order to avoid such a possibility, the Blaugrana will need to defeat Inter at Spotify Camp Nou next week. Ahead of the crucial encounter, though, the Italian giants could be handed a major injury boost.

Indeed, according to Mundo Deportivo, Romelu Lukaku could recover in time for Inter Milan’s clash against Barcelona next Wednesday.

The Belgian international returned to Inter this past summer, re-joining on loan from Chelsea. However, early into the campaign, the ace goalscorer succumbed to a muscle injury, after making only three appearances, in which he scored and assisted one goal apiece.

Since then, Lukaku has missed 11 matches across all competitions. However, as per the report, the Belgian is pushing himself to be available for the game against Barcelona next week, having already returned to training out on the pitch.

The Chelsea loanee will play no part for the Nerazzurri when they face Sassuolo in Serie A later today, but, as things stand, there is a chance he could recover in time for the trip to Barcelona.

Even if he does make it to the squad, the report states that it is likely that he will only be used as an option from the bench as the 29-year-old has been out of action for over 40 days.

While Lukaku could make his way back into the fray, Inter boss Simone Inzaghi will be without Joaquin Correa for the Barcelona encounter after the forward sustained a knee injury earlier this week.
