Recent reports via Mundo Deportivo and Eurosport, highlight that Paris Saint Germain may have to put Lionel Messi’s signing in the backseat. The French champions reportedly have other priorities to consider before going after the Argentine.

PSG believe that Kylian Mbappe’s contract renewal takes utmost precedence. A concrete decision on his future will be the most important factor before pursuing Messi. The Barcelona superstar has been on PSG’s radar for a long time now. However, being 33 years old, PSG will look to secure their young superstar’s future first.

Kylian Mbappe’s sensational hattrick against Barcelona midweek in the Champions League has been pivotal for many reasons. For one, PSG have seen that he is instrumental to their project. Secondly, it may have sealed Lionel Messi’s fate at Barcelona for good.

The reports also indicate that PSG want to secure the services of another one of their youngsters. Moise Kean, who scored the third goal for PSG in their rout of the Blaugrana is another key issue on their agenda. The Italian striker is currently on loan from Everton, but PSG want him among their ranks permanently.

Les Parisiens are also reportedly pursuing Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli, who has closely worked with Mauricio Pochettino earlier. And as the icing on the cake, they are looking to add Sergio Ramos to the side, to complete their super-team.

There are major doubts, now more than ever, about Lionel Messi’s continuity with Barcelona. And with PSG determined to establish themselves as Europe’s elite, they will look to get their hands on as much as they can. The return leg awaits in March to see if there are any more twists in the Barça-PSG tale.
