Lautaro Martinez is heavily criticized by Inter Milan lately, both by the fans and board. The Argentine forward missed a penalty last Sunday against Bologna which resulted in a 2-1 loss for the Nerazzurri and left his team even more behind Serie A leaders Juventus.
The 22-year-old has been left on the bench as a punishment tonight against Hellas Verona after coach Antonio Conte is put under tremendous pressure by the fans. Lautaro has gone 5 consecutive matches without scoring, and Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta believes that the reason is ‘market rumors’, referring to his possible signing with FC Barcelona.
Barcelona will wait for the Argentine’s clause of €111m to expire on July 15, right after La Liga ends and shortly before the Champions League fixtures. The club’s idea is to lower Inter’s financial demands as much as possible and to introduce players in the operation apart from cash.
