Report: Everything around Messi is nothing but pure speculation

With Lionel Messi’s current Barcelona contract soon to be expired, the rumours are also starting to mount. And as we slowly but surely approach the dreaded summer transfer window, the gossips are picking up the pace.

However, not everything we’ve heard so far about Leo’s situation is necessarily true. In fact, according to a new report from Goal and the reliable Rubén Uría, the latest rumours circulating the media about Messi’s potential departure this summer are purely just speculation.

The same outlet suggests there have been no contacts between the Argentine’s camp and any of the clubs that have been connected with his name. Messi is currently focused on Barcelona and wants to make this season a success.

Despite the media wanting to convince everyone he has spoken to the likes of Paris Saint-Germain or Manchester City, that appears to be nothing more than a rumour. However, Messi has had no contact with anyone from Barcelona either, meaning that he is yet to fully discuss the future projects with any of the three presidential candidates who are still in the race.

To put it simply, as Goal also explain, Leo doesn’t want to affect the contest and will discuss his future once the new president is officially elected.

By law, Messi is now, however, allowed to talk to other clubs but has not done so nor does he plan do to it any time soon. It’s all about Barcelona and that won’t change until at least the end of the campaign.

Then, once the dust settles and football can be put on the side for a while, he will sit down with the people in charge and negotiate the next steps.

As of right now, unfortunately, we still don’t know what those steps will be and we can only hope for the best.
