Report: Barcelona will listen to offers for La Masia star winger

According to ESPN, Barcelona will be open to listening to offers for Barça B’s star winger, Konrad De la Fuente. The decision has both sporting and financial backgrounds. The club believes that both Konrad and Alex Collado need to play at a level higher than the third division.
Currently, the team is packed with forwards, and it will be immensely difficult for Konrad to break into the first team even for a few minutes. His current contract runs out in 2022. However, similar to the majority of the youth players, Barça do have an option to extend it until 2024.
Given the Catalan club’s precarious financial situation there is an urgent need to get some cash coming in. The board believes that the American winger could be one of the players for whom a hefty fee could be demanded. The club will look for a permanent deal rather than a loan move. However, similar to many previous cases, the board will include a buy-back clause in the deal too.
Konrad is one of the players who has been rated very highly for a long time. The American had a spectacular pre-season with the first team. Those string of good performances meant that he was one of the players always called up for the first team matches and training. However, he has only played a mere 9 minutes for the first team this season.
Contrary to his pre-season performances, the American star kid has not had a very successful season with the B team. Konrad recorded 2 assists and 2 goals to his name in 15 appearances in the third division. The number of appearances has been limited because of the traveling with the first team, however.
Considering the circumstances, it seems that a move away will serve best for both parties involved. The buy-back option in the deal will give Barça an opportunity to bring back the player to Camp Nou if he breaks ground at his new destination.
