Joan Laporta is reportedly eyeing 20-year-old Sevilla winger Bryan Gil. Despite the critical financial situation, the new president has promised to excite the Barcelona fan base once again, and the young Spanish winger is of Laporta’s liking, says Deportes Cuatro.

Although the young prospect belongs to Sevilla, he has been playing on loan for the last two seasons. Currently, he is playing at LaLiga’s side Eibar, where he has become a key player after a rough start. He has recently scored three goals and given two assists.

Previously, he had already played in LaLiga, specifically in Leganés. He had a more mediocre stay there, as he only scored one goal in just twelve games. That season did not finish as his club expected, as the Madrilenian side got relegated to LaLiga Smartbank, Spanish football second division.

Gil is a versatile lefty winger that can play in various positions. His speed and quality when carrying the ball make him one of the most important prospects of Spanish football. He has played in different Spanish National teams: U17, U19, and got his first call with the U21 team this last October.

The 20-year-old has a buy-out clause from Sevilla of €35 million, but you could expect the transfer fee to possibly be less than that. Barcelona would be interested in completing this signing this Summer, as Sevilla is willing to finally make him a first-team player.

Consequently, Julen Lopetegui’s side would give Gil a contract renewal, which not only would have a rise in his salary but also in his buy-out clause, which could be at the highest of €135 million.

We will see what are the real options chosen by Joan Laporta and his executive board, led by Mateu Alemany. Although many names have been related to Barcelona these last few days, it is yet to be determined what the moves from the club’s new president are going to be.
