The uncertainty about Philippe Coutinho’s future at FC Barcelona continues to grow by the day. The midfielder has been touted with an exit ever since he suffered a serious knee injury at the end of 2020, turning the page on what seemed to be the final chapter of his story in Catalonia.
With the club’s expenses overflowing, and the wage bill in desperate need of trimming, Coutinho’ sale is fast growing to be one of Joan Laporta and his board’s biggest priorities. His big money move from Liverpool has ended up largely being a failure, and in this state of rebuild, it is time for the club to let him go.
Coutinho’s injury issues, however, are acting as roadblocks in a potential offload. After multiple surgeries and a long-drawn out rehabilitation process, there has still been constant discomfort in the midfielder’s knee. He is currently trying to recover on vacation in Brazil with his family.
According to reports from Tuttosport relayed via Mundo Deportivo, the 29-year old’s agent Kia Joorabchian is now trying his best to secure a move away from Barcelona for his client, and has made contact with several clubs who will be playing Champions League football next season.
One of these clubs include Serie A giants AC Milan. Numerous Premier League clubs like Arsenal and Everton have also been reported to have an interest in the Brazilian, but the Rossoneri are supposedly looking for his precise profile after Hakan Calhanoglu departed from the club.
Any exit operations for Coutinho will be tricky until there is more positive news on the front of his injury. However, it is imperative for Barcelona to get his hefty wage off the books at the earliest.
