Taking to social media, Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni has clarified that his injury during Saturday’s El Clasico was not because of a coming-together with Barcelona star Gavi.

Instead, the French international has clarified that he sustained the said injury during the first half of the contest, clearing Gavi of the blame.

What happened to Tchouameni?

Following Real Madrid’s 2-1 win over Barcelona in the first El Clasico of the season, it emerged that Tchouameni had suffered from a fracture in his right leg which will rule him out of action for close to two months.

Soon after, chatter started to pop up on social media claiming that a strong challenge from Barcelona sensation Gavi, who was one of the star performers on Saturday evening, led to the injury of the Real Madrid midfielder.

However, Tchouameni has taken to social media to exonerate the La Masia wonderkid from any blame.

Replying to a video clip from DAZN showcasing the alleged moment which led to his injury, Tchouameni clarified that it was not when he suffered the injury.

“It’s not Gavi’s fault. I was injured at the end of the first half,” the Real Madrid midfielder wrote.

What next for Gavi and Barcelona?

Gavi, despite being one of the best players in Saturday’s game, was left dejected by Barcelona’s defeat – their first of the 2023/24 season.

Following Atletico Madrid’s win on Sunday, the Catalans have now dropped down to fourth place in the La Liga standings, four points behind leaders Real Madrid.

Up next is a game against Real Sociedad away in San Sebastian, which will pose a challenge for Xavi Hernandez & co. as they look to bounce back from the Clasico defeat.
