First-half

Barcelona had great intentions coming into the game, and they absolutely dominated Paris Saint-Germain for a whole half.

Ronald Koeman’s men were unlucky to be behind after half-an-hour. The number of chances they created should have been enough to at least half the deficit, and they should have done better.

The penalty conceded was harsh, but Messi’s goal, the last thread of hope the Catalans had, was superb. Nonetheless, the visitors played well enough.

Second-half

However, the second half was not that great. With PSG defending their lead with ten defenders and the attackers losing their spark, Barcelona could not get ahead of their opponents.

The locals defended like warriors while the visitors lost their movement and their fight. Barcelona kept the ball but did not create anything apart from some half-chances.

In the end, Barça went out and deservedly considering the two legs. The Catalan giants have a lot of work to do to finish the season on a positive note.

Key moments

19′ Lionel Messi finds Ousmane Dembelé behind the defence. The Frenchman’s shot does not trouble Keylor Navas.

31′ GOAL! PSG 1-0 Barça: Kylian Mbappé converts the penalty.

37′ GOAL! PSG 1-1 Barça: Messi fires a perfect shot into the top corner. The captain equalises for his side.

45+1′ Layvin Kurzawa shoots Antoine Griezmann’s foot, and Anthony Taylor awards them a penalty.

45+2′ Messi shoots the penalty on Navas. Still 1-1.

60′ Griezmann sends a good cross towards Jordi Alba. The left-back gets the ball quickly towards the penalty spot where Messi is. The Argentine shoots but Marquinhos blocks it.
