Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is growing increasingly confident about signing Ousmane Dembele in the summer, and as reported by Sky Germany, the manager has already made it known to the new management that this transfer should be given the top priority.

Dembele, 25, will see his current Barcelona contract running down on June 30 and while Xavi has time and pressed that he wishes the Frenchman to continue, the Blaugrana management has failed to establish a middle ground between them and the player.

As it seems, Barcelona have already offered their side of the deal and are in no mood to change the figures. This has alerted several top teams across the continent and Chelsea have emerged as a serious contender.

All this because Tuchel knows the quality Dembele possesses, having worked with the Frenchman during their time with Borussia Dortmund.

In fact, it was under Tuchel himself that Dembele played the best football of his career to date, scoring 10 goals and providing 22 assists in 50 games across all competitions during the 2016/17 season.

With only a handful of days left for Dembele’s contract to expire, the Barcelona management has more or less made peace with the fact that they need to look beyond the Frenchman for the next season.

For that, the team has chalked out two replacements in Raphina of Leeds United and Angel Di Maria, who will be a free agent on June 30. The issue with the former, however, remains that although he is thought to be the priority, troubling finances might force Barcelona to back out.

All the push and pull of Ousmane Dembele’s transfer fiasco will have a resolution soon and if he is to depart, one can expect Chelsea to have the outright advantage despite the fact that Paris Saint-Germain are interested in his acquisition too.
