Ousmane Dembele’s contract situation has dominated the headlines for quite a while now.

The 24-year-old winger has been with the club since 2017, having brought in from Borussia Dortmund as a replacement for Neymar. Despite displaying fleeting glimpses of his quality, the Frenchman has struggled to perform consistently, with injuries not helping his cause either.

Dembele has just a little over six months left on his current contract. And, Barça, in spite of his fitness troubles, remain intent on tying him down to a new deal at Camp Nou. Manager Xavi Hernandez and president Joan Laporta have made it clear time and again that they wish to see him pen an extension and continue at the club.

Talks with the representatives of the ex-Rennes starlet have been going on for ages without much progress being made.

However, reports last week indicated that the Blaugrana had made a breakthrough in negotiations and the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner had decided to commit his future to the club. It was also claimed that the winger’s new contract will be wrapped up before the end of the year.

Now, it appears that Dembele may have dropped a slight hint over the same with his activity on social media. The French international recently happened to share a post made by the club’s official account, which had an image of the Barcelona logo with a caption that read ‘Proud’, on his Instagram stories.

Amidst all the talk about an imminent contract renewal, the post can be considered as a hint towards the Barça winger reiterating his commitment towards the club.

After missing a large chunk of the season due to injuries, Dembele has made eight appearances across all competitions and has chalked up two assists. The 24-year-old has shown a lot of positives of late under Xavi. It now remains to be seen when his new deal gets finalised.
