On-loan Barcelona forward unlikely to continue at club after this season

Adama Traore’s move to Barcelona came amidst severe scepticism. The Spanish international was considered be one-dimensional during his tenure at Wolverhampton Wanderers and many questioned Xavi’s decision to incorporate him into the team.
However, it did not take long for Traore to silence his critics. He registered an assist on debut against Atletico Madrid before repeating the feat in his second appearance.
In ten games for his childhood club so far, the 26-year-old has provided four assists but is yet to score.
His best game in Blaugrana colours came against Napoli at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium when he assisted both Jordi Alba’s and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s goal.
According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, the club’s administration are against Traore’s continuity if the decision were to be taken today. Despite the winger’s contributions on the field, Xavi has superior options available.
The initial idea was to swap the 26-year-old for Fransisco Trincao who is on loan at Wolves. However, the Premier League side have decided not to keep the Portuguese winger. As it stands, Traore’s continuity in Catalonia seems complicated.
Barça have an optional €30 million purchase clause on the winger’s contract. However, the same funds can be used to secure the signing of Raphinha from Leeds United, who is said to possess a superior ceiling.
Moreover, a lot depends on the situation of Ousmane Dembele. The Frenchman’s imperial form has pushed Traore to the bench in recent games. If the contract rebel decides to continue at the club, it will be very difficult for the loanee to receive game time.
