Following a month-long club footballing action, we are bracing ourselves for the first international break of the new season as the UEFA Nations League gets back underway, among other competitions.
A total of 14 Barcelona players have already been called up to their respective countries, with six of them a part of the Spanish national side. The list includes the likes of Pedri, Gavi, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, Eric Garcia and Ferran Torres.
However, along with the six, several other Barcelona players have been called up for their respective national teams.
Marc-Andre ter Stegen, for one, has been rewarded for his blistering start to the season with a call-up to the German national side. It appears he has once again become the main alternative for Manuel Neuer for Die Mannschaft, although the former Gladbach starlet faces stiff competition from Kevin Trapp.
While ter Stegen returns to the Germany fold, Jules Kounde and Ousmane Dembele have been selected in the French squad.
Dembele’s selection is quite significant as the winger is making his return to Les Bleus squad after a while. He has been rewarded for his consistent performances at Barcelona throughout the new year. Many even expect him to become a force for the French squad ahead of the World Cup, especially with Antoine Griezmann struggling with game-time.
Other players selected for their respective national teams include Andreas Christensen, who is set to feature in the Denmark squad while Ronald Araujo has been selected for the Uruguayan team, as ever.
Raphinha, too, continues with the Brazilian national team. The former Leeds United starlet has enjoyed a good start to the season, and his qualities could be useful for the Selecao, not only for the coming friendlies but also in the coming World Cup.
Two more players featuring for their respective national teams are Arnau Tenas and Alejandro Balde, although both of them are only set to feature for Spain’s U21 squad.
