After president Joan Laporta casually dropped the news of the club selling a 24.5% percentage of Barça Studios during the presentation of Jules Kounde, Barcelona have officially confirmed the operation, stating that they have sold the share of the asset for €100 million.

The official statement issued by the club read: “FC Barcelona announces the sale of 24.5% of Barça Studios to the company for an amount of 100 million euros to accelerate the growth of the audiovisual and blockchain, NFT and Web.3 strategy of the Club.

“The sale was carried out in accordance with the authorization of the General Assembly of Members and Partners of FC Barcelona held last October 23.”

In the process, the Blaugrana have now triggered their third economic lever that should take care of any problems that they would have faced with regard to the registration of the new signings.

Barcelona activated the first lever last month when they sold 10% of their TV rights to Sixth Street for a fee of €267 million. A few weeks later they triggered the second lever by selling the remaining 15% of the TV rights to the same company for around €400 million.

With the third lever now being activated by the sale of 24.5% of Barça Studios to for a fee of €100 million, the Catalans have generated a massive sum of over €750 million from the sale of club assets this summer.

It has helped them fight on equal footing with some of the richest clubs in Europe in the transfer market, while the latest action should aid their bid to register new players without any hiccups, although they would still need to carry out player sales.
