Confirming what was known for a while now, FC Barcelona have officially announced Hansi Flick as their new manager.

The Blaugrana posted a video welcoming their new manager, in which Flick can be seen saying: “Culers, it’s our moment.”

The 59-year-old German tactician will replace club legend Xavi Hernandez as the new head coach.

“FC Barcelona and Hansi Flick have reached an agreement for the German to be the coach of the men’s first team until June 30, 2026,” the statement from the club read.

“The new coach signed a contract at the Club’s offices in an event with the president of FC Barcelona, Joan Laporta; the first vice-president in charge of the sports area, Rafa Yuste; and the Club’s sports director, Anderson Luís de Souza, Deco.”

Flick has been without a job since September 2023 when he was relieved of his duties as the manager of the German national team.

While things did not go well for him with Die Mannschaft, his stint at Bayern Munich prior to that was a hugely successful one, where he even went on to win the sextuple.

As mentioned earlier, Flick has signed a two-year contract with the Catalans until 2026.

The former Bayern Munich manager will also be bringing in two assistants in the form of Toni Tapalovic and Marcus Sorg, who also have signed until 2026.

As reported previously, keeping in line with the club’s financial situation, Flick has agreed to a salary of just €3 million (before taxes) with additional bonuses for winning La Liga and the UEFA Champions League.
