Even as Lionel Messi continues to be heavily linked with a return to FC Barcelona, his PSG teammate and close friend, Neymar, is also harbouring hopes of a move back to Spotify Camp Nou.

This claim comes from journalist Toni Juanmarti, who states that the Brazilian international has been sending out feelers in the hope of securing a return to Barcelona. However, the newly-crowned La Liga champions are not contemplating such a move at this point.

Neymar spent an eventful four years at Barcelona, after arriving at the club from Santos FC in 2013. The Brazilian superstar formed a deadly partnership with Messi and Luis Suarez, and helped the club to the treble triumph in 2014/15.

In 2017, the fleet-footed forward opted to leave Barça for PSG in a world-record move worth €222 million. While he has won trophies in his time in France, things have not always been smooth-sailing for Neymar at Parc des Princes.

Injuries, disciplinary issues, and a falling out with fans are some of the problems that he has had to deal with in Paris and it seems like the former Santos wonderkid could be open to leaving in the summer.

And, as per the report, Neymar would be ‘delighted’ to return to Barcelona. This comes after it was revealed that the 31-year-old celebrated the Blaugrana’s La Liga triumph with the players in Catalonia last weekend.

While Neymar might be harbouring dreams of a possible return to Barça, there is no interest from the club’s side whatsoever in such an operation.

Club president Joan Laporta is not contemplating any move for the Brazilian international, with some within the club even not keen on hearing his name as per the report.

Furthermore, the possibility is further hindered by the Catalans’ Financial Fair Play situation. If they were to re-sign Messi, there would be no room for Neymar at all, although in case the former does not arrive, there may be some space.

But, as things stand, it is not being considered as a possibility.

So, despite his dream of a return to Barcelona, Neymar is understood to be aware that such a possibility will not be coming to fruition. A move to the Premier League might very well be his best option if he decides to leave PSG in the summer.
