Manchester United willing to offer €10 million for out-of-favour Barcelona forward

According to a fresh report from MARCA, Barcelona have found a new suitor for Memphis Depay in Manchester United. The Red Devils, according to the report, are willing to shell out as much as €10 million for the Dutchman’s services.

These links come on the back of Memphis’ failed transfer to Juventus. He was set to join them on a Bosman move, terminating his contract with Barcelona. However, his salary demands of €8 million-plus pushed the Old Lady to seek an alternative in Arkadiusz Milik.

Memphis had signed with Barcelona on a free transfer, taking a significant pay-cut to realise his dream. He is now looking for a new pay-day, and at 28, only wants to play for a top club.

And unlike Juventus, Man United are not strapped for cash and can offer a transfer fee to Barcelona. Presumably, they can also meet Memphis’ ‘new’ wages.

He is, alongside Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, one of Barcelona’s only two sure-shot sales. They have to offload as many players as possible to register Jules Kounde, and then possibly go after more players.

United’s interest in Memphis could be an exciting turn of events for Barcelona, but as of now, it is nothing but a shot in the dark from the reporters.
