Manchester United manager prefers Bundesliga defender over Sergino Dest

Sergino Dest is one of the many Barcelona players facing an uncertain future at Camp Nou as we head into the final few days of the transfer window.
Amid growing dissatisfaction over his performances at Barcelona, it appears Xavi is keen on sanctioning his sale, in an attempt to make space for newer signings.
Barça have already identified the likes of Juan Foyth and Hector Bellerin as potential upgrades in the right-back unit. But they must offload Dest if they are to afford any of the two players and that is where the problem lies, as far as Barcelona are concerned.
The Catalans have not had much luck finding a suitor for Dest. The American international’s poor form has seen him attract very few clubs, especially given the fact that the defender could also cost a fortune due to his potential.
Nevertheless, a recent report from Telegraph, Manchester United are among the clubs that have been offered the chance to sign the Barcelona defender, in these final few days of the transfer market.
However, Man United coach Erik ten Hag is not too keen on the prospect of signing Dest, despite the fact that the Dutchman knows the defender quite well. Ten Hag, after all, played a major role in launching the right-back’s career at Ajax, before he eventually joined Barça.
The report suggests ten Hag favours other alternatives in the market, including Thomas Meunier. The Belgian international offers far more experience at the highest level, though there is very little chance of Borussia Dortmund sanctioning a sale this late in the market.
One way or another, Barcelona are set to face major difficulties selling Dest. It may come to a point where they may have to rely on their current finances to try and fund a move for a new right-back that can compete with Dest, at least for the first half of the campaign.
