Over the past 24 hours or so, speculations surrounding FC Barcelona signing Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan have been doing the rounds relentlessly.

On Thursday, it was reported that the 32-year-old midfielder’s agent had met with Barcelona officials, following which some outlets claimed that there was already an agreement in place between the two parties.

SPORT reported earlier today that the deal was ‘practically closed’ and that Gundogan would be signing a two-year deal with a gross salary of €12 million per season.

But, his agent, Ilhan Gundogan has swiftly moved to dismiss those claims, stating that the German midfielder has not yet decided on his next move and is currently focused on winning titles with Manchester City.

As quoted by AS, Gundogan’s representative said: “I am surprised at where the stories come from about a deal closed for many weeks. There is still no agreement with any club. It is not yet decided where he will play in the next few years.”

“Ilkay can still win three major trophies this season as Manchester City captain. That’s the only thing he’s focused on right now,” he further added.

This comes after Gerard Romero reported that Barcelona did not meet with Gundogan’s agent yesterday and instead, it was Inter Milan director Piero Ausilio who had been at the Catalan club’s offices.

As for Gundogan, the midfielder is held in high regard within Barcelona and given that he will be available for free this summer, is seen as a key target.

It remains to be seen if Barcelona are able to capture the 32-year-old’s services before next season.
