Speaking during an interview with ESPN, Barcelona new signing Robert Lewandowski has named Real Madrid legend and current PSG star Sergio Ramos as the toughest defender he has ever faced.

Lewandowski joined Barcelona earlier this month, completing a transfer from Bayern Munich after a lot of speculations and negotiations.

The 33-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best centre-forwards to have played the game in the modern era and his impeccable goalscoring record more than backs up the claim.

Lewandowski enjoyed a stunning 2021/22 campaign with Bayern Munich, bagging 50 goals in all competitions, showing that he remains as lethal as ever in front of goal, despite his advancing age.

The Poland captain was asked various questions during the interview with ESPN, and when quizzed as to who was the toughest defender he had come up against throughout his illustrious career, Lewandowski chose to name Sergio Ramos.

Lewandowski has a record of six goals and an assist in eight games against Real Madrid across his career. However, in the five matches that he has come up against Sergio Ramos, the 33-year-old has scored just one.

The former Real Madrid captain left the Spanish capital club last summer to join PSG on a free transfer, meaning that he will not be coming face to face in La Liga in the upcoming season.

Having joined Barça, Lewandowski is now hoping to help the Catalans overthrow Real Madrid and reclaim the La Liga title after a disappointing season last time out.
