Xavi Hernandez has recently stated that Lionel Messi’s return to Barcelona depends on the player himself, as we approach the summer transfer window.
However, according to Gaston Edul, Messi’s entourage is slightly confused with Xavi’s comments, as they do not understand how this entire operation is reliant on Messi.
This is because Barcelona have yet to send a formal offer for Messi. They are still waiting for La Liga’s approval before they can send an official proposal to the Argentine.
Messi’s entourage maintains that if Barça had sent the offer, the player would have already accepted because his priority is to return to Camp Nou at the end of the season. The 35-year-old has already remained extremely patient even in the wake of lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia.
Even Premier League clubs have knocked on his door. But Messi has not yet decided on his future. He is waiting for Barcelona’s offer.
The problem for Barça is that they have to get approval from La Liga over the Financial Feasibility Deal. Only then, the club can have a roadmap of what to do next. That means the approval itself might not be enough to get the deal done.
The club have to comply with a series of stringent measures if they are to make enough economic provision for Messi. The player is aware of the development and is willing to wait it out for now, but for how long remains the big question.
Recent reports suggest Messi’s move to Barcelona could soon collapse, as the Argentine keeps receiving offers from other European and Saudi Arabian clubs. The coming few days could be crucial, as far as the player’s future is concerned.
