Barcelona have their work cut out in the summer transfer window, with several positions in need of reinforcement. The Catalans are likely looking to sign a defensive midfielder, a right-back, a backup striker, and possibly a left-winger.

With Ferran Torres and Ansu Fati underperforming for a majority of this season, the LW position has become especially concerning for Xavi and co. So much so that the tactician has been deploying Gavi in that role to assert midfield dominance.

While Barcelona are considering several names for that role, one of their very own is putting up a show in La Liga. Currently playing for Osasuna, Ez Abde is expected to join the Barça first-team next season.

Previous reports have confirmed that Barcelona will be looking to retain his services unless they receive a massive offer, likely from the Premier League.

One of these offers could be on their way, with SPORT reporting that Leeds United want to sign Abde in the summer. They have already met with the player’s representatives and could make an offer for him if the move is deemed plausible by the player.

Barcelona do not want to let Abde go this easily, though. He will be a part of Xavi’s team for the pre-season tour, and his departure will rest on sporting and economic needs of the team.

Since the player is not on high wages, and will likely not command a high fees, either, there is a chance he could end up staying at the club.

However, Barcelona are also considering other players for the left-wing role, including Yannick Carrasco and Marcus Thuram. The former could be signed for €9 million, while the latter is a free agent.

Aston Villa were also reportedly interested in signing Abde, and are in a much more comfortable position in the league, too.

Eventually, the final decision will likely only be taken after the Moroccan’s loan ends and he attends a few training sessions under Xavi ahead of the next season.
