By this point, it is clear that Barcelona are looking to offload Franck Kessie this summer amidst their financial turmoil.

The 26-year-old has been reluctant to leave, but given that he might play very less next season following the arrivals of Ilkay Gundogan and Oriol Romeu, he could accept a departure.

A return to Italy has been mooted for Kessie, with Juventus showing a strong interest in acquring his services. The Bianconeri are set to revamp their midfield unit this summer and see the Barcelona ace as a key target.

And, now reports in Italy, as relayed by Mundo Deportivo, suggest that Juventus could offer Federico Chiesa to Barcelona as part of the deal to sign Kessie in the ongoing transfer window.

Juve are intent on landing Kessie, but have not been able to agree a deal with Barcelona as of yet. It has been suggested that the Bianconeri wish to sign the Ivorian on a loan-to-buy deal, but the Catalans intend to transfer him permanently right away, leading to a stand-off.

The Italians have requested a meeting with Barça later this week when the two teams face off in a pre-season friendly in the US. And, talks over a deal for Kessie could progress during that meeting, with Chiesa likely to be offered to the Blaugrana.

The 25-year-old, whose market value stands at €40 million, overcame a serious injury that put him on the sidelines for almost the entirety of the first half of the 2022/23 season. He did show the value he adds to the team in the second phase, finishing with four goals and six assists from 33 games.

Chiesa is represented by Fali Ramadani, who also happens to be the agent of Barcelona defender Marcos Alonso.

It will be interesting to see whether Juventus do actually put the Italian winger’s name on the table in discussions with Barcelona in order to sign Kessie. While the Blaugrana have plenty of options in attack, a chance to sign a player like Chiesa could prove too tempting to refuse.
