Joao Cancelo rejected Bayern Munich approach in favour of Barcelona – report

As the clock inexorably counts down, deadline-day drama proceeds to escalate.
Barcelona have been dealing with financial complications and tussles with Financial Fair Play through the entirety of the summer, with signings close to completion nearly being jeopardized.
However, despite the Catalan giants delaying Joao Cancelo’s impending announcement, it appears the Portuguese will soon be representing the resplendent Blaugrana colors.
Cancelo rejected Bayern’s proposal
Indeed, as per Christian Falk, FC Bayern wanted to bring Joao Cancelo back to Munich, but the Portuguese turned down the offer.
Cancelo spent half of last season plying his trade with the Bavarians after a falling out with Pep Guardiola compelled him to find a rustic retreat with the Germans.
After the conclusion of his loan spell, he returned to Manchester with both parties looking to part ways yet again.
But despite the late attempts from Bayern Munich to make the signing of Cancelo permanent, Cancelo is willing to commit his future to Barça, having already agreed personal teams and being handed the green light from Manchester City to travel to Barcelona.
Reports are already swirling that Cancelo’s shirt has also been prepared, with his arrival only a matter of time now.
Cancelo’s determination has been key
Manchester City were always looking to offload the Portuguese on acceptable terms and as a permanent purchase with no responsibility over his salary.
But Cancelo continuously insisted on a move to Barcelona, which ultimately saw him open to a salary cut and allowed Barça to sign him on a loan with no purchase option.
Regarding the FFP concerns, La Liga has granted the guarantees offered by the club’s board, allowing Barcelona to sign and register both Cancelo and his countryman Joao Felix.
