After months of deliberation, Barcelona have finally announced the contract renewal of Alejandro Balde.

The youngster has signed a new deal until 2028, with a customary release clause of €1 billion. Balde’s renewal marks an important step for the club as they look to keep hold of their young sensations.

And no one else was happier than Joan Laporta, who congratulated and thanked Balde for committing his future to Barça.

“Thank you very much, Alejandro, congratulations and we wish you many successes because your successes will be Barcelona’s successes,” Laporta said after Balde’s renewal.

“I would like to stress that Balde is committed to the club, and he is one of the players who is always ready to help the Barcelona organization and this says a lot about his character,” he added.

Balde has indeed been an asset to Barcelona ever since his breakthrough last season. He has racked up over 50 competitive appearances for the club, even becoming the first-choice left-back.

Laporta stressed on the importance of Balde’s renewal, adding, “It is a historic day for Barcelona fans. Balde has been at Barcelona since he was 13 years old, and he loves and knows what Barcelona represents.”

“Above all, I thank Alejandro Balde’s entire team. The player will continue to wear the colours that run in his blood,” the Barcelona president further added.

Laporta went on to thank Balde’s family for playing a key role in convincing him to continue his career at Camp Nou.

I would like to thank everyone around the player for making this possible. He is an example of a young man who has made it to the first team after a long list of challenges,” he said.

Many thanks to his parents and family for everything they have given and taught him. My biggest thanks go to his grandmother who came from the Dominican Republic,” he added.

Finally, the Barcelona president talked about the team’s exciting prospects and how it could help Balde develop himself as a footballer.

“We are improving in all aspects, and I would like to emphasize that everyone believes that we have a very good team. We pay tribute to those who bear sporting responsibilities,” Laporta said.

With help from Deco and coach Xavi Hernandez, Laporta has indeed played a key role in charting the path of Barcelona’s new era.

“Efforts have been made to register all players. The effort was worth it, and given our great confidence in the management, the club will be financially restored sooner than expected in the strategic plan,” he added.

Following the renewal of Balde, Barcelona are now likely to focus on the contract extension of Lamine Yamal, another young player who has made a solid impression this season.
