Inter Milan pressing Barcelona ace to join them in January, player not looking to leave

Franck Kessie has not had it easy since joining FC Barcelona in the summer transfer window earlier this year. The 25-year-old arrived on a Bosman deal after his contract with AC Milan ran down, but has found it hard to carve out a place in Xavi’s plans thus far.
Kessie’s cause has not been helped by some niggling injury issues either. Given his plight and the club’s urgent need to generate Fair Play, the midfielder’s future has become a subject of intense speculation.
A move back to Italy has been constantly touted, with the likes of AC Milan and Inter Milan being linked, despite his agent stating that Kessie is not looking to leave.
And, as per the latest claims from Corriere dello Sport (h/t SPORT), Inter Milan are still intent on signing Kessie and are pressing the player and his camp to secure an exit from Barcelona in the January transfer window.
The report indicates that the Nerazzurri manager, Simone Inzaghi, is keen on adding Kessie to his roster in order to compete for the Serie A title.
Inter Milan seek to sign the 25-year-old either on a loan deal or a permanent transfer if he came with a letter of freedom from Barcelona.
However, as things stand, Kessie is not looking to leave Camp Nou and wishes to stay put until and unless the club forces him out.
As for Barça’s stance on the matter, they too are reluctant to let Kessie leave unless there is a stunning offer for the midfielder.
Given their Fair Play situation, the Catalans are aware that signing new players will be next to impossible in January and they do not intend to let anyone leave and risk weakening the squad ahead of a title run-in.
So, despite Inter Milan’s pressure on Kessie to leave Barcelona, it seems unlikely that an exit will materialise next month.
