Barcelona’s 1-0 win over Real Sociedad cost them as many as five injury troubles, with the likes of Ronald Araujo, Gerard Pique, Dani Alves, Jordi Alba and Gavi all showing signs of discomfort.

Araujo, in particular, requested a change in the 55th minute due to a knee issue, with Barcelona saying that it will take more tests to confirm the intensity of the problem.

“The first team player Ronald Araujo has a problem with his right knee and will have more tests to find out the exact extent of the injury,” read an official statement from the team.

In a recent update, journalist Toni Juanmarti has confirmed that while there is no official word on the same, the feeling at the time of the injury was that it is not anything major.

“Araujo, pending evidence. The feeling at this time of night with the Uruguayan is that he has NOT suffered any major injury,” tweeted Juanmarti.

Furthermore, it’s been also confirmed that there is no breakage in his knee and that he will be available in one or two weeks’ time.

Araujo, who missed the Cadiz defeat due to suspension, returned to the starting XI against Real Sociedad. He faired well in the first 45 minutes, but 10 minutes into the second period and he signalled for a change.

The Uruguayan was replaced by Eric Garcia in the 55th minute and was soon spotted on the bench with an ice pack on his knee.

Meanwhile, Gerard Pique also struggled with fitness after returning to the first team. The veteran defender, who missed Barcelona’s last two matches, withdrew early from the pre-match warm-up session and didn’t manage to play at his usual standard.

On the other hand, Davi Alves needed Barcelona’s medical team to take him off the field. The 38-year-old was substituted in the 66th minute, around 10 minutes after Araujo’s departure.

Jordi Alba, on the other hand, felt some physical discomfort, but did manage to complete the game after brief assistance from the medical team.

Similarly, young midfielder Gavi was seen asking the bench how much is the game going to last as he could barely reach the finish line.

Although the intensity of all these issues is still unknown, Barcelona are expected to relay the official words anytime on Friday.
