With Bayern Munich’s reported interest in signing Gavi throughout the summer, culers were sweating over whether the Germans would wrap up his signature on a free transfer, considering his current deal expires in 2023.
However, it has been claimed by several credible sources that the teenager is ready to commit his long-term future at Barcelona. A fresh update suggests the day on which the in-demand midfielder will finally sign on the dotted line.
As per a report by SPORT, Gavi is set to sign his contract until 2026 with the Catalan juggernaut.
An interesting detail that has emerged is that a €1 billion release clause will also be put in place after the 18-year-old puts pen to paper. The likes of Pedri, Ronald Araujo, and Ansu Fati are among the Barcelona players to be given this historic release clause in the past, alongside Real Madrid icon Karim Benzema.
With Xavi’s men set to face Bayern on Tuesday and Elche next Saturday, Thursday was viewed as the perfect day in between both fixtures to focus on the highly-rated prospect’s brand-new contract.
It has also been revealed that a public presentation will be scheduled, in a similar vein to those that transpired to announce the likes of Marcos Alonso and Hector Bellerin at the club without the presence of any fans at the Ciutat Esportivo pitch.
As Gavi takes a few touches of the ball, the media will be present to cover the event, as club president Joan Laporta and the player also give speeches.
A date for the event is yet to be finalised, as it will be done in accordance with Laporta’s availability.
It is no surprise to see Barça place such emphasis on the ex-Real Betis starlet’s new deal, considering the wonderkid has started every La Liga game so far this term, which points to how he is already one of the side’s most valuable players.
