Frenkie de Jong’s agent, Ali Dursun has reportedly told FC Barcelona that he won’t allow the club to blackmail his player over a transfer move, as per AS. The Dutchman’s agent will not allow the Catalans into bullying Frenkie into a transfer or wage reduction.

The response to the midfielder from the club was ‘Frenkie will not stop the process of registering the new signings. He will either leave the club or agree to a wage reduction.’

The Frenkie de Jong saga is not even close to an end as the player and club both stay adamant on the topic. De Jong doesn’t want to leave the club or reduce his wages, while the club are forcing him to choose either of the two options.

The player has been part of the club since his signing in 2019 after his superb season in 2018/19 with Ajax. The player joined with hopes from both the fans and the club that he would end up as a club legend.

However, that has not amassed how either party wanted, as the player has failed to live up to his billing so far in his 3 seasons with Catalans. The player has faced severe criticism from all directions as he remains a hollow shell of his past glories.

However, the club feel that Frenkie still has a lot to offer going forward and would prefer to keep him. At least that’s as far as Joan Laporta’s words are to be believed.

The Barça president has come out and publically stated many times that the 25-year-old is very vital to the team and won’t be sold as long as the economic deals are agreed to by the player. The economic deals being a major wage reduction.

The reports so far have suggested that the club has asked the player to take 40-50% wage cut if he wants to stay, as it will be impossible for the club to sustain the crazy wages he currently receives, thanks to former president, Josep Maria Bartomeu.

However, if the player and his agent stay adamant, the club could be forced to sell the player to Manchester United, who have been in hot purchase of the player, and are also reportedly ready to pay his deferred wages.
