Former Barcelona CEO and legal head responsible for leaking Messi and Pique’s contracts

Barcelona’s former board under disgraced ex-president Josep Maria Bartomeu was involved in a series of controversies, one of which was the Barçagate scandal.
As part of the operation, Bartomeu paid off a company to target and discredit former and current players as well as club legends online in order to damage their reputation and standing among the fanbase.
When the incident came to light an investigation was launched into it by the Catalan police forces and the entire board, including Bartomeu, were forced to resign.
Now, fresh reports from Sique Rodriguez are claiming that two of the club’s ex-board members, Oscar Grau and Roman Gomez Ponti, were behind the leaking of the contracts of Barcelona legends Lionel Messi and Gerard Pique.
As part of the investigation into the Barçagate scandal, the Mossos had requisitioned electronic devices from the Barça offices. And they have found evidence about the involvement of Grau, former CEO, and Ponti, the former head of legal services, in the contract leaks.
The report states that the Mossos have allegedly found conversations that hint towards the aforementioned pair’s intention to divulge the contract details of the two club legends.
This alone will constitute a separate crime of ‘revealing secrets’ separately from the Barçagate scandal and based on the report of the evidence found, a judge will decide to open a fresh case or continue as part of the same investigation.
This development comes as another black mark from Bartomeu’s reign as the Barcelona president.
