In a huge update, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Vitor Roque will sign for Barcelona after the Catalans have reached an agreement and finalised all details and documents with Athletico Paranaense.

An agreement in principle for the Brazilian was reached last month, with Barça agreeing to pay €35 million plus another €10 million in add-ons, taking the total cost of the operation to €45 million.

Agreeing personal terms with the 18-year-old striker was never an issue as he always wanted to move to Catalonia and play for the Blaugrana. As such, it is understood that Roque will be signing a contract until 2029 with a €1 billion release clause in the deal.

Romano has given his trademark ‘Here we go’ to the transfer while confirming that both clubs are going through all the contracts as a final verification before the deal is done.

However, the Italian transfer expert specifies that the plan, for now, with Roque is for him to arrive at Barcelona in January 2024 and not right now.

Given the club’s financial situation, registering Roque is a big challenge, especially with several other positions needing to be strengthened as well.

As such, without major sales, the 18-year-old’s registration will be a huge challenge. So, the plan, as things stand, is for Roque to spend the next six months on loan back at Athletico Paranaense before arriving at Barcelona in January.
