€54.6 million World Cup winner wants to join Barcelona, informs his club – Romero

In a massive boost for Barcelona in their pursuit of a new right-back, Juan Foyth has informed Villarreal that he wants to leave the club for the Catalans.
This claim comes from Gerard Romero, who states that the 25-year-old World Cup winner has made his desire clear to the Yellow Submarine.
Foyth generates consensus at Barcelona
Foyth has been on Barcelona’s radar since last summer, but the move did go through back then due to an injury he sustained as well as Villarreal’s financial demands.
And the 25-year-old has once again emerged as a target for Xavi Hernandez & co. owing to the fact that he has experience at the highest level and his best years ahead of him.
Furthermore, the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner with Argentina also meets the defensive requirements that the manager is seeking in his new right-back.

Foyth generates full consensus at the club, which has not always been the case as Deco, Xavi, and Mateu Alemany have not been seeing eye-to-eye when it comes to other right-back targets on the radars.
€54.6 million release clause a hindrance
However, Foyth’s contract with Villarreal consists of a massive €54.6 million release clause and they have been reluctant to negotiate a lower fee.
But now that the player has informed the club that he wants to leave for Barcelona, it will be interesting to see whether that alters their stance.
It has been reported that Barça could offer a player in exchange, like Ferran Torres, as part of the operation to drive the price down.
And that avenue is something that they could again explore. For now, Foyth appears to be a serious candidate and much will depend on how negotiations between the two clubs go.
