Sergino Dest arrived at Barcelona from AFC Ajax last year with a lot of expectations.

The 21-year-old was one of the most highly coveted young right-backs in Europe, with a host of top clubs pushing to sign him. However, the USMNT star opted to sign for Barca, as he was promised a starting role in the side along with a sporting project where he would be part of a team that would be competing and winning trophies.

Signed for a total of €25 million, Dest did not have the best of debut seasons in Catalonia, as he was in and out of the side and largely struggled to make the desired impact. Things have hardly improved for the ex-Ajax starlet in the current campaign.

El Nacional is now reporting that Dest has grown disillusioned with life at Camp Nou and is seeking an exit from the club. The report states that newly-appointed manager Xavi Hernandez does not rate the youngster highly and prefers the likes of Oscar Mingueza, Ronald Araujo and Sergi Roberto ahead of him in the pecking order for the right-back slot.

Dest started the game this past weekend against Real Betis but put in an underwhelming performance, following which it was reported that the coaching staff would be putting him on special tactical training sessions to help improve his game.

The signing of Dani Alves on a free transfer is also an indicator that Xavi does not entirely trust his options in the right-back slot currently. As a result, Dest is now pushing for an exit from Camp Nou.

In fact, the report further adds that Dest has contacted Bayern Munich to offer his services to the German champions. The Bavarians were interested in the right-back before his move to Barcelona and are still looking for reinforcements in the position, having not been convinced by Benjamin Pavard and Bouna Sarr.

So, they could consider making a move for Dest. And, if they do so, Barca would not stand in the way, even in January, if an offer of €30 million is made. With less than a month left for the transfer window, it remains to be seen if the 21-year-old remains at Camp Nou.
