After a somewhat mixed start to his life at Borussia Dortmund, Karim Adeyemi has been the biggest star for the Bundesliga giants this year.

Since the turn of the new year, Adeyemi has been involved in a league goal every 64 minutes, which is the highest among any player in Europe’s top five leagues. This statistic was posted by Opta’s official Twitter handle for German football – Opta Franz.

In the same tweet, a Twitter user commented, “Best possible replacement for Fati for Barça.” The tweet was liked by none other than Adeyemi himself, as visible through his official Twitter account.

There is no secret that Barcelona were one of the clubs interested in the services of Adeyemi prior to his eventual move to Dortmund. There was, in fact, a close duel between Barça and BVB over Adeyemi, but the German ended up returning to his homeland.

Since joining Dortmund, Adeyemi has been involved in 15 goals in all competitions, playing a key role in helping the Black and Yellows challenge Bayern Munich for the league title. The club are currently trailing the Bavarians by just one point, with three matches left.

Judging by Adeyemi’s success in his first season at Signal Iduna Park, his stock could only grow as he continues to develop in the famed German outfit. His rapid rise to prominence could inevitably see him being linked with a move to Barcelona in the years to come.

For the time being, though, Adeyemi would look to focus on his career at Dortmund, especially as we brace ourselves for the last three matches in the Bundesliga this season.

Barcelona, meanwhile, as rightly pointed out by the Twitter user, are mulling over a sale of star player Ansu Fati, as part of the club’s bid to reduce the salary mass and generate fresh revenue.

Should Fati depart Camp Nou, Barcelona would require a fresh face in the attacking department.

The club have been linked with a move for Atletico Madrid star Yannick Carrasco, but it will not come as a surprise to see Xavi Hernandez relying on the services of the returning loan star Ez Abde next season.
