Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was not at FC Barcelona for a long time but developed a special bond with the club and the fanbase.

Having arrived on a free transfer in January last year, the Gabonese striker played a key role in helping the Blaugrana finish second in La Liga last term.

Given the club’s difficult financial situation and the inability to offload Memphis Depay, they had to reluctantly part ways with Aubameyang last summer as he joined Chelsea in a deal worth around €12 million.

But, things have not gone according to plans for the former Arsenal man on his return to England. He has fallen out of favour under current manager Graham Potter at Chelsea and has even been left out of the Blues’ UEFA Champions League squad.

Disillusioned with how things had been going for him, Aubameyang pushed for a January return to Barcelona and was even willing to play for a very low salary. However, La Liga regulations prevented a move from happening.

SPORT is now reporting that Aubameyang could have chosen to move to the MLS but opted to stay at Chelsea as he is keen on continuing in Europe. It is further claimed that the 33-year-old is ‘dreaming’ of a possible return to Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

The report states that the former Arsenal striker would like for the opportunity to finish his career at Camp Nou.

The Blaugrana, for their part, are attentive to Aubameyang’s situation at Chelsea and know that he can be a good market opportunity if he were to come for free and on a low pay packet. But, the former striker is not seen as a priority at this moment in Catalonia.

Barça have their eyes on Vitor Roque of Athletico Paranaense to reinforce their No. 9 position in the summer. So, whether they consider the prospect of re-signing Aubameyang in the summer remains to be seen.
