Breaking: Barcelona president meets with Messi’s father to discuss potential return

Barcelona fans are being treated to breaking news after breaking news today. The biggest of all was confirmation from Gerard Romero that the club’s financial feasibility plan has finally been approved by La Liga and that official confirmation could follow today itself.
This means the club can officially start making moves in the transfer market, starting with none other than Lionel Messi himself. The Argentine is now a free agent, and prioritises a move to Barcelona.
He does have other important offers on the table, though. Al-Hilal have reportedly tabled the biggest contract in football history for him, while Inter Miami have sent in bids, as well, to convince the player.
However, it seems Barcelona have the edge over their competitors at the moment, as Lionel Messi’s father, Jorge Messi, has been pictured meeting with Barcelona president, Joan Laporta at the latter’s house to discuss a potential return.

Messi’s father was reportedly getting impatient with Barcelona and La Liga as the approval for signings this summer was taking too long. They wanted to take a decision in the coming days to seal the player’s future as soon as possible.
Should he sign, Barcelona plan to give him the captain’s armband, the no. 10 jersey, and make him the highest paid player in the team, just €1 over Robert Lewandowski, who currently holds that position in the team.
Messi’s transfer could potentially add €230 million in extra revenue every year as the 35-year-old is still one of the most marketable athletes in the world. Not to mention, the hype of his return alone could drive markets crazy.
